That’s right folks you heard it right! Reznor has just released a 36 – Track instrumental NIN album called “Ghosts” Vol 1-4. The first volume is available for free, with all 4 available for a whopping $5!
Reznor describes the experiment:

Okay, so I grew up on a steady diet of punk rock, one band in particular being The Misfits. If you’re not aware of them, then you’ve probably been living in a cave or have never met a studded-belt-wearing punk rock kid in your life.
The band is known for their fast & raw punk rock sound, and of course their famous lyrics about b-movie horror. They even have a signature character ripped from an old serial known as “The Crimson Ghost”.

Well, I’m heading off to Italy in a few hours, so I’m afraid that I won’t be around to entertain everyone out there.
However, I’ll be leaving you in excellent hands for the next two weeks. My friend Eric, who I’ve known for years and who also runs Evolvor Music Marketing, will be looking over this site. He’s another 90’s junkie, so I’m sure he’s got lots of goodies for you in store.

Let’s do an FYI on the Australian trio, since last year was a pretty good year for them, and their last two albums, Diorama and Young Modern, are great.

Singer/guitarist Daniel Johns and drummer Ben Gillies have been playing music together since primary school; bassist Chris Joannou joined the band in the high school.
The band’s original name was Innocent Criminals.
In 1994 they won a national demo competition with the song ”Tomorrow”.
“Tomorrow” spent 6 weeks at the top spot in Australian charts by August of 1994; in 1995 it was the most played modern rock song in the U.S.

This is a post that I’ve been toying with for some time now, but have finally decided that it was time to share some of my favorite cover tunes from 90’s alternative bands.
Actually, this can be a real touchy subject if your a fan of the original artist or song, but I think my choices are pretty good, and some could even argue that they could even be better than the original.

Finally, after more than a decade Portishead will be releasing a new album.
Their third album will be uniquely entitled Third, and will hit shevles on April 14 in Europe and April 29 in the U.S.
Here’s the tracklisting: “Silence”, “Hunter”, “Nylon Smile”, “The Rip”, “Plastic”,  “We Carry On”, “Deep Water”, “Machine Gun”, “Small”, “Magic Doors” and “Threads”.

Looks like Blind Melon are gearing up for a pretty busy year, as they attempt to return following the unfortunate death of Shannon Hoon back in 1995.
Last year the band recruited frontman Travis Warren, now they’ve recorded a new album and will embark on a five month tour.
Their new album, For My Friends, will hit shelves on April 22 and is the first Blind Melon album since 1996’s Nico.
The band will kick off their tour on February 28 and will continue until August!

I was never really a fan of Seven Mary Three, but they’re still from the 90’s, so that makes them eligible to mention. Besides, I actually forgot about these guys, but when I noticed that they’re releasing a new album, it did spark my attention.
I really thought that Seven Mary Three had been done for a while, but it turns out that they never went away. Which makes me look foolish.
