Driven To Tears (Song of the Week)

Driven To Tears (Song of the Week)

I’ve been on a huge Police kick, so I decided to write about a classic track from 1980’s Zenyatta Mondatta. The song was written by Sting while The Police were on tour. The story goes that while in his hotel room Sting saw a program about starving children and was inspired to write “Driven To Tears”.
The song has great lyrics by Sting and Stewart Copeland does some amazing drumming as well. It’s been preformed by both The Police and Sting’s solo concerts and at events such as Live Aid and Live Earth.
Pearl Jam also covers “Driven To Tears” from time to time at …read more

FYI: Pearl Jam

FYI: Pearl Jam

Welcome to the first edition of FYI Friday, which means I’ll be sharing some knowledge about everything related to the 90’s alternative scene that you may or may not already know, but it should be an educational experience for us all.
Let’s kick off with a band  that I mentioned earlier this week (and one of my favorites), PEARL JAM!

Original Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer, Jack …read more

Pearl Jam – Live at the Gorge 05/06

Pearl Jam’s decision to release a 7-disc box set from their Gorge, WA shows from 2005 and 2006 stirs up mixed emotions. As a fan, I look forward to any Pearl Jam release and a box set should have me skipping around. The setlists from these shows make me kick myself for not making the trip across the States to Seattle. The shows include the usual suspects of hits that include “Black”, “Given To Fly”, “Even Flow”, “Corduroy”, “Better Man”, “Alive” and “Yellow Ledbetter”. Not to mention gems such as “Low Light”, “Sad”, “Insignificance”, “Leash”, “Satan’s Bed”, “God’s Dice” and …read more
