Mendel stated that the band are using time during their sound-checks to mess around with the new tunes, which could be lead to the follow up to last year’s Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace…which I still say is their best album yet.

However, Mendel didn’t get our hopes up too much, because he also said that he doesn’t know when the band will hit the studio. After-all, the Foos will be on the road for pretty much the rest of this year and they will obviously take a break after that.

I can’t wait for a new Foo Fighters album, but they just released Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace last September, so I can wait for a bit.

The Foos won Best Rock Album for their awesome Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, as well as, Best Hard Rock Performance for “The Pretender”.

The Foos were also nominated for Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Rock Song. But I’m sure that the band isn’t complaining, since they now have three Best Rock Album Grammys (the other two album being One By One and There Is Nothing Left To Lose).

Kudos to the Foo Fighters for a job well done.

The former Nirvana drummer and current Foo Fighters frontman is one of my favorite musicians around, and I love Zeppelin too, so this sounds like a dream come true. It would just be sick. Grohl is hands down on the best drummers out there and I think he could handle himself pretty well with Zeppelin.

But…would this actually happen? Would die hard Zeppelin fans welcome him as the replacement for Bonham? A better question would be if the remaining members would actually let Grohl in on the fun?

We have to remember that Zeppelin called it quits after the death of Bonham and it always seemed fitting that his son Jason would be the only choice as a replacement.

Personally, I don’t see this happening. Dave is awesome, but I think that this is just a boyhood dream of playing with his idols. I think a better solution would be having the Foos open up for Zeppelin (if they actually do tour) and maybe have Dave sit in on a couple of songs with them.

The legendary festival will take place on May 30-31 and June 1.

Until then, the reunited Rage Against The Machine will be hitting the road down under at the Big Day Out Festival; while the Foo Fighters are currently out promoting their fantastic new album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace.

The Foos have been nominated for some pretty big awards, such as Record of the Year (for “The Pretender”) and Album of the Year.

Dave Grohl and company are also nominated for Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song, again for “The Pretender”.

What could make their live shows better? How about bringing back guitarist Pat Smear and the addition of Rami Jaffee on keyboards and Jesse Greene on strings. This is going to add so much depth to their live shows; it’s certainly one that you don’t wanna miss.

The band’s self-titled debut featured only Dave Grohl, in an attempt to establish himself as a new force in the music world. The band’s follow up, The Colour and the Shape became an instant classic. Their third album, There Is Nothing Left To Lose, was an impressive step forward. Then, the band hit a slump.

One By One was a rushed effort, that produced only a handful of songs worth remembering. The Foos ambitious double-disc effort, In Your Honor, was a vast improvement, but would have been better served as a single disc.

However, the band has come back strong with their sixth album, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace. The Foo Fighters seem to have learned a lesson from their past mistakes, by not rushing into the studio and recording an album that skillfully masters the electric and acoustic songs from In Your Honor.

The album kicks off with a bang with the lead single, “The Pretender”, and then settles down with “Let It Die”, which features former member Pat Smear. The third track, “Erase/Replace” has guitars that sound like a machine gun and some stellar drumming from Taylor Hawkins. “Long Road to Ruin” is a great song to listen to during the transition from summer to fall and has a Springsteen or Neil Young vibe. The beautiful “Come Alive” sounds like a track left off the acoustic disc from In Your Honor. While “Stranger Things Have Happened” returns to a Springsteen style of song, before kicking into one of the best songs on the album.

“Cheer Up, Boys (Your Make Up Is Running)” not only has one the coolest song titles ever, it’s a solid rock track that will tear down arenas during a live show. “Summer’s End” is a real foot tapper, with a country feel, that is also a great sing a long. “Ballad of the Baconsfield Miners” is an instrumental track dedicated to miners that were trapped in goldmine in Tasmania early this year. The two miners wanted an iPod full of Foo songs while trapped and then got to meet the band and Dave promised to write a song for them. The track also features Kaki King on guitar.

“Statues” is a classic rock sounding track, driven by the piano. “But, Honestly” starts off with some acoustic strumming before erupting into a killer rock song. The album concludes with Dave Grohl and a piano on “Home”.

Overall, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace is the most solid album by the Foo Fighters since The Colour and the Shape, and is a must have.

• The video for “Big Me” was filmed in downtown Melbourne, Australia.
• The Colour and the Shape was released in May, 1997.
• The acoustic version of “Everlong” was just Dave and drummer Taylor Hawkins performing on the Howard Stern Show; eventually, New York City radio station, KROCK, added the song to it’s regular rotation.
• There Is Nothing Left To Lose was released on November 2, 1999 and was the album debut for drummer Taylor Hawkins.
• In 1999, Courtney Love stated that the song “Stacked Actors” is about her.
• One By Oneis released on October, 2002, and is Dave Grohl’s least favorite Foo album.
• One By One received a Grammy for Best Rock Album in 2004.
• In 2004, The Foos jumped into politics. Upon learning that George W. Bush was using “Times Like These” during his presidential campaign, Dave Grohl started popping up at rallies for John Kerry; the entire band would eventually perform at an Arizona rally.
• Also in 2004, the band was part of Rock Against Bush, Vol. 2 with the song “Gas Chamber.
• The band’s double-disc, In Your Honor, was released on June 14, 2005 and was inspired by being on the campaign trail with John Kerry.
• In Your Honorfeatures appearances by Norh Jones (vocals/piano on “Virginia Moon), Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme (guitar on “Razor”) and Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones (piano on “Miracle” and mandolin on “Another Round”) .
• The Foos reunited with The Colour and the Shape producer Gil Norton for Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace.
