The Lemonheads – Into Your Arms

The Lemonheads – Into Your Arms

I bumped into this song over the weekend and it’s been on constant rotation ever since.
“Into Your Arms” was from the 1993 album Come on Feel the Lemonheads and would hot the numero uno spot on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks in November of 1993. The track also appeared on 1998’s The Best of the Lemonheads: The Atlantic Years.
What’s not to like about this track?
I mean it’s a little poppy and sweet, but Evan Dando pulls it off perfectly, as he usually does. If “Into Your Arms” was from another band it probably would get trashed because it just oozes pure pop-rock. But that’s we love …read more

Filter – ‘Anthems for the Damned’ and a Tour

Filter – ‘Anthems for the Damned’ and a Tour

Filter, remember the guys who brought us “Hey Man Nice Shot” and “Take A Picture”, are gearing up for a new album and a tour.

Richard Patrick revamped Filter shortly following his work with the side project Army of Anyone, which featured STP’s Dean and Rob DeLeo. The band’s first album in six years seems to be a political one. The first single, “Soldiers of Misfortune”, was apparently inspired by a Filter fan who joined the Army Reserve to pay for his college tuition, who sadly lost his life in Iraq.

Weezer – Pork and Beans (Only a clip for now)

Weezer – Pork and Beans (Only a clip for now)

Weezer has released a 30 second clip of their first single, entitled “Pork and Beans”, from their forthcoming self-titled release.
The single will be released in it’s entirety on April 22.
For now you can sample the track right here.
It doesn’t sound that bad, but it’s only 30 seconds long, so it’s kinda hard to judge the track. It sounds like old school Weezer to me. The music is reminiscent of their debut self-titled album, while the lyrics remind me a little bit of Pinkerton.
We’ll just have to wait and hear what the rest of the song is like…

I’m bringing back the FYI on STP again, because they’re everywhere right now, because of their reunion and all.

Enjoy the video for “Hello, It’s Late”, which was a gem from their last album, 2001’s Shangri-La-Dee-Da.

Jane’s Addiction To Receive ‘Godlike Genius’ Award

Jane’s Addiction To Receive ‘Godlike Genius’ Award

Jane’s Addiction will be honoured NME by receiving the “Godlike Genius” Award.

This will be NME’s first award show in the U.S., which will take place on April 23 at the El Rey Theatre in L.A.
This is why the now defunct band was chosen for the privilege, according to NME Editor Conor McNicholas:“When we were in the planning stages of bringing the NME Awards to America, Jane’s Addiction were always in our thoughts,” and he also added, ”They are exactly the sort of once-in-a-lifetime, inspirational, aspirational, no-holds-barred, genre-busting, risk-taking, pioneering group which sums up what the NME …read more

Porno for Pyros – Tahitian Moon

Porno for Pyros – Tahitian Moon

This is a cool little number from Porno for Pyros.
Don’t remember who Porno for Pyros were?
Well, they were a side project from Perry Farrell and drummer Stephen Perkins after the first break-up of Jane’s Addiction. They were only around from 1992 to 1998, but released two pretty decent albums.
“Tahitian Moon” was the only single released from the band’s second album, 1996’s Good God’s Urge. But, it’s extremely catchy and hypnotic as hell.
I love the chrous: ”I don’t know if I’ll make it home tonight, but I know I can swim under the Tahitian moon”. Good stuff.
 Check it out for yourself.

STP’s Return

STP’s Return

Last night STP officially returned!
The band performed a 30 minute intimate gig for lucky contestant winners and industry folks at the Harry Houdini Estate in L.A.
The show was used as a platform to announce the huge 65 date tour for this summer and fall. Also, guitarist Dean DeLeo told the crowd that the band would be working on a new album after the tour.
Sweet!
Anyways, the seven song setlist was: “Big Empty”, “Plush”, “Vasoline”, “Lady Picture Show”, “Big Bang Baby”, “Interstate Love Song” and the encore was “Trippin On A Hole”.
If you can’t wait to see the guys this summer, then …read more
