New Favorite 90’s Alt Rock: Shiner – The Egg

I’ve been chatting with my boys from The Scenic Route, and they’ve done a good job of opening me up to some pretty cool music. The first of these bands they so generously introduced me to is a band known as Shiner. The band hails from Kansas City, and dropped their first album way back in 1993. They were probably well known in the more indie rock scene throughout the ’90’s, which explains why I’d never heard of them before (as I was a wee young lad with a sometimes bad diet of mainstream radio influence).

I’ve yet to have the time to go in-depth into the band’s discography, but am currently listening to the band’s 2001 release, The Egg. It would be the last album of the act. Don’t fret through, as the lead singer guitarist would go onto and front The Life and Times, bringing a similar sound to their 2005 album Suburban Hymns, which also kicks major butt.
