Freedy Johnston – Bad Reputation

This song is defiantly a guilty pleasure of mine. It’s almost 100% pop, but that actually works for it, because it’s still a great song

Even though it’s a bit poppy, it’s still a downer of a song. The way Johnston delivers it vocally, it makes you really for him. To me, it sounds like it’s about a guy who made some mistakes in a relationship and then comes to terms with it, but it’s too late and now he’s pleading to get the girl back.

Anyways, “Bad Reputation” originally appeared on Johnston’s 1994 album This Perfect World. It also appeared in another guilty pleasure of mine, the 1996 comedy Kingpin.

The song was covered by Death Cab For Cutie and was available as a bonus for the iTunes pre-order for their 2005 album Plans (I’m pretty sure on this, don’t hold me to it if I’m wrong, but Death Cab For Cutie did cover it).
