Veruca Salt – Volcano Girls
What a kick ass song!
“Volcano Girls” was on Veruca Salt’s 1997 album Eight Arms to Hold You and would also be used as the opening track for the 1999 flick Jawbreaker.
So, why does this song kick so much ass?
How about awesome vocals by Nina Gordon, some killer guitar work by Louise Post, a reference to the Beatles’ tune “Glass Onion” and the fact that Nina Gordon and Louise Post are hot.
And, let’s not forget the video…

One of the other things that makes that album so good is Bob Rock. He was at his peak as a producer in that era.
Even though that’s a great clip, the one for Shutterbug was better. I haven’t listened to that album in ages, think I’ll put it on now.
I think having a great producer is always vital. When hear Bob Rock though, I always think Metallica though.
Shutterbug was a great video too, but for some reason it just doesn’t do it for me like Volcano Girls. I think it’s because I don’t like the song as much.
I LOVE Veruca Salt. Sooooooo much. I saw them at a tiny club and they were amazing. I had to stand in the snow outside in the line around the club to get in but it was worth it. Sadly they were the opening act for Hole who sucked live more than any band I ever saw (maybe Everclear was worse?) No, you know Hole was way worse because I actually walked out before the show was over. Courtney kept flashing her privates, and I was in the pit up near the stage, and the whole thing was just a mess. Shiver.
I wish Nina Gordon stayed in Veruca Salt; it’s not the same without her. But, at least you got to see them, I wish had.
Yuck. Courtney Love is so disgusting. I can’t stand her. To this day I still don’t see what Kurt Cobain saw in her.
